WALKING with JESUS - DTS 3 SURABAYA

Hugh Teaches at DTS

Youth With a Mission (YWAM) has bases in towns and cities worldwide, and these bases often conduct Discipleship Training Schools. The students are in class three months preparing for outreach, then go on three month outreach. I am often requested to be an instructor in these schools, and for the week of April 30 - May 4 I taught in the third DTS for the Surabaya Base.

My topic: Holy Spirit, concentrating in living in the Spirit, that is, staying conscious of God and hearing the Spirit lead us in everyday activities. There were nine students and 5 staff that attended classes, a relatively small class, but I prefer the intimacy and interaction that we have with smaller groups.

The first evening, we just turned down the lights and worshiped, inviting the Holy Spirit to touch and lead us. He did. Compared to some meetings, it was relatively quiet, but many fell to their knees in worship, some just fell, overcome by the presence of God. Five of the nine students received their ‘prayer language,’ that is, spoke in tongues, for the first time.

Enacting Scripture from Acts 12
On Thursday, we prayed to receive gifts of the Spirit, and some asked for gifts of healing. We tested it out, and had those with physical pain come to the new ‘doctors.’ One was instantly healed of shoulder pains.
