One of my current projects is renovation of my apartment in Surabaya. In Phase I the kitchen area is more than doubled. Phase II will increase the capacity for meetings, but still under design.
I came home to a real mess. The AFTER in the photo above is AFTER CLEANING! There was 1/8 inch granite dust over everything due to the cutting and grinding of the granite tiles and counter tops. All my ‘stuff’ (paintings, wall hangings, TV console, etc) and kitchen things (dishes, fridge, microwave, etc) are crammed into my two bedrooms. I sleep in a corner I carved in my work/sleep area, and am able to squeeze into my desk space to work on the computer. Even though doors were locked, dust did manage to get into the rooms. Guest room remains dusty, but I cleaned the room (as best I could, being as packed with stuff as it is) and now I am living in that room. It contains the fridge, microwave, etc.
Oh, yes, electricity was left off from the fridge and now I can’t use it until I can get it out of this room in a space large enough to clean it out. Bad smells when I open! Lots of little things like this that I specifically warned against but my supervisors didn’t think about. I used to think that this was because Indonesians don’t think the same as Westerners, and that in America I wouldn’t have this problem, but in recent years I have heard similar horror stories about contractors in America also being unreliable for ‘small’ jobs like this.
I will hold fellowship meetings in alternate locations until I get the apartment cleaned up.
THANK YOU JESUS. WALKING WITH YOU IS AN ADVENTURE!!
