For example, I was scheduled to leave Friday (day after tomorrow) to meet my Jakarta team in Yogyakarta for our outreach in Central Java. I returned home from school early because I have so much to do before leaving. I got a call from travel agent that the plane schedule was changed to very late in the afternoon, too late to make the first commitments. I asked if we could get it changed. There is only one flight per day. My option is to take a 8 hour train ride (which I have done before, not a problem, except for the time), or a bus, which I wouldn’t look forward to! I was able to get scheduled for Thursday early afternoon flight.
This has some repercussions:
My team will arrive Thursday evening. I didn’t want to spend 6 or more hours in the small airport waiting for them, so wanted to have other friends meet me at the airport. This also would allow me to spend time with them - a definite plus!
I have work associated with my apartment renovation (nearly finished - was supposed to complete in April) and the work was for Thursday AM. I had to change this to today (Wednesday). The workers are here now.
I was scheduled for a Pastor seminar for today, so had to make adjustments with apologies to my hosts there.
Last night two friends from Bali came for a special prayer/counseling meeting with me. Obviously a serious matter since they were willing to take the time and money to come up including overnight in a hotel here. While we were meeting, the pastor’s wife in Yogyakarta called me, and I was able to explain my situation. After checking, she phoned back and said he would be able to meet me at the airport tomorrow and I can spend the afternoon with them!
OUR GOD IS GOOD!
So that is the most recent of the exciting Journey!
Last week Wednesday - Friday was in Jakarta for the FLO Community (more about this in Dream Makers) where things went relatively smoothly. I had a meeting with a Roman Catholic priest who is interested in the FLO program, met with the couples on Thursday evening in a meeting which is always exciting and fun, and had a session with the fasting/prayer group of one of the churches on Friday on my way to the airport. This in addition to meeting with my Jakarta Team filling most of my other time.
OTHER MAY ACTIVITY included opening the month with a week teaching at YWAM Discipleship Training School, BOSS (Based On Spiritual Substance) youth program graduation, preaching in local churches on Sundays, and presenting the new School Focus (Trust God!) for the Buah Hati and Cita Hati schools where I ‘work’ as an advisor, my main job being to pray for people. Perhaps the most time consuming has been getting the apartment renovation completed in between all my travel. It was supposed to be complete before, but as usual, each component dragged on and on . . .
New wood floors are complete and new wall to wall carpet complete (though I must call them back today, not satisfactory) and new credenza I ordered is now being modified slightly to fit the space.
I have now had two meetings with my Monday evening group - last week living room carpet half installed, so we met in the guest room, this week carpet finished so we met in the living room. The space is indeed nearly twice as large as before with the sofa and chairs removed (we sit on the floor in meetings here in Indonesia anyway). I think I can have up to 30 people now, though that would be a bit crowded.
Now, if I will only be home enough to enjoy it!
