Wednesday afternoon, April 11.
This morning my team brought me to the Manila City jail, where we had a service, then baptized 6 men in a 2ft x 6ft, 3 ft deep trough which holds water for dipping out for bathing, washing clothes, etc. in the common area of the men’s cell group. Our team leader was hesitant because he had been denied permission, but the 6 men insisted. There were no incidents, we were not stopped, and the six men were jubilant! This is fruit of the ministry of the general weekly meetings which I spoke at, and another, smaller discipling meeting every week, led my my Camp Master MC, Waven.
I am scheduled to leave in a few minutes to prepare for a healing crusade in Tondo, down by the railroad tracks in Manila where the poorest of the poor live. When one of my Manila friends heard I was coming to spend a few days with the people there, she was shocked - "Isn’t it dangerous?"
No, not too dangerous. Someone was shot dead in front of the church yesterday, and violent crime is of course the rule of the day, but probably no more dangerous than driving most of America’s freeways!
My host church is Tondo Harvesters Christian Fellowship, who also provided three team members for our camp in Romblon, including Camp Director, MC, and Worship Leader. Camp report will be in Unexpected Treasures, please click on that blog.
My schedule for the week with this host church (remember that I am a day ahead of most of you, so if it’s Friday at your place, our Friday events will have already passed):
